Digital platforms specialist

I am an experienced manager of graphic/web design, digital marketing and marketing production processes. I am also a passionate digital platform manager who likes to oversee the effective implementation of systems and processes that improve efficiency and workflow for marketing and communications staff.

Using the human-centred design approach, I connect digital platform developers and designers with digital marketing experts to provide the best digital experience for both the audiences and the businesses using the platforms.

I am mostly self-taught and have included examples of some of my own graphic design work and website project management examples below. For further information and/or to request a copy of my resume, please contact me using my website contact form or through my LinkedIn profile—both are available below.

Mater Queensland

My involvement with the mater.org.au website began when I designed one of the earliest user interfaces for the website at a time when the website was yet to be built in a content management system (CMS). Since that time, I have assisted with its development, managed a team of in-house web designers/developers, and overseen a collaborated rebuild of the website that involved both agency developers and in-house developers • I have been involved in the website’s transition from static HTML to the Kentico CMS and the multiple upgrades it has gone through since that initial transition • I am currently in the process of bringing marketing automation and personalised content to this, and many other, Mater websites • I am currently leading this website’s CMS administrator team.

Guitar Fascination

Guitar Fascination is my most recent website experiment. This website was created to allow me to create more content separation on my scarebear.org website. With this move, came the creation of all-new profiles on the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube social media platforms. This created a platform that I could build upon to differentiate between the personal and professional use of social media platforms • The creation of this website has allowed me to further my own interests in marketing automation, digital platform integration, and personalised content. In time, this will extend into a journey-driven email campaign as well.

scarebear.org

I have owned and operated scarebear.org since early 2001. Over time, the website has been my personal testing ground for all things web. The website has transitioned from a portfolio for my interests in Graphical User Interface (GUI) design, through to my interest in guitars, photography, and more • In the last 20 years, this website has been created by me using basic Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), the ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML) language and Personal Home Page Tools: Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP). With both CFML and PHP, I created my own Content Management Systems (CMS) before transitioning to freely accessible platforms such as Drupal and most recently, WordPress • This website features most of what my skill set covers—hosting management, SSL management, content management/creation, and digital platform integration.

Mater brochures

I have managed the Mater brochures website since its creation • Over the years the website has grown from a repository of patient information content to a centralised hub of content that is used to populate multiple systems that present useful content to a wide range of patients and website visitors. The brochures website has been designed to educate Mater patients at the bedside—through a patient entertainment system—as well as both websites and patient portals • The brochures website is also used as a source for accredited healthcare content with its cataloging of consumer review dates and information. My involvement in this project has ranged from website development management, and staff training in the website’s Content Management System (CMS), to online consumer feedback monitoring and reporting • I am currently leading this website’s CMS administrator team.

Mater Mothers

I have been managing the Mater Mothers website from a digital platform perspective since it was developed in 2013. My initial involvement included coordinating the technical requirements of the website build between two external agencies—one who designed the website’s frontend design and another who handled the backend development of the website • From the website’s launch until the present day, the Mater Mothers website has undergone a variety of changes including the implementation of an online store, the integration of an obstetrician search feature—with data being pulled from another website source—and the creation of an integrated email marketing platform that members could profile manage themselves on-site. All of this work was developed by the in-house team that I continue to manage • I am currently leading this website’s CMS administrator team.

Materonline

My involvement with the Materonline website began with the creation of one of the website’s earliest user interface designs. This work evolved into development assistance and eventually into ensuring the website transitioned into the same Content Management System (CMS) that Mater’s other websites are developed in • This move allowed for individual sections of the website to be managed by the appropriate content owners which was an improvement that reduced the effort required for Mater’s Marketing Department who had previously been making all content changes to the website • Feature additions that I have overseen for this website include a specialist site search, event registration management, dynamic specialist list creation and dynamically generated email newsletters—all from within the one digital marketing platform • I am currently leading this website’s CMS administrator team.

Mater Research

I have been involved in three redesigns of the Mater Research website—each rebuild being a result of an organisational change that could only be translated into a new website structure. With each change, however, came process and content structure improvements • What started as a fairly static website structure became a dynamic website driven by a Content Management System (CMS) and an integrated database for researcher profiles. Over time, that third-party database became insufficient which resulted in the Mater Research website evolving into the purely Kentico-driven website of today • Although the Mater Research is purely Kentico-driven, some of its corporate content is dynamically pulled from the Mater corporate website, allowing for a centralised content approach that ensures all shared content across the Mater website portfolio is consistent and accurate at all times • I am currently leading this website’s CMS administrator team.

Olsen Tattoo

My involvement with the Olsen Tattoo website covers redesigning—through the implementation and customisation of a third-party WordPress theme—through to hosting, domain management, and site security (SSL) management. This is an end-to-end service that I provide as a freelance digital marketer • Included in this service, I make website edits and updates, design and functionality recommendations as well as ongoing uptime/downtime monitoring and security checks. My services in this space allow the client to focus on their core business without needing to worry about their marketing-focussed website.

Guitars

Guitars

Although I’m not a naturally gifted guitar player, I get great enjoyment out of playing and collecting guitars. I truly believe the correct number of guitars for a person to own is the current number +1

Photography

Photography

I would classify myself as an amateur photographer who loves to experiment with all camera types including DSLR, point-and-click and film—yes, I still have a film camera

10 pin bowling

I am an avid fan of 10-pin bowling. I’m not a professional bowler, but I can bowl the odd 200 game from time to time
